Gardening involves planting, so it is necessary for you to think about what plant you should grow. When doing this consider the climate in your area, the size of your garden, and your personal preferences when deciding what to grow. Some easy vegetables to start with include tomatoes, peppers, beans, and lettuce.

3. Prep the soil

After knowing what plant you will be putting in your garden.  It is important to prepare the soil because it is one of the keys to a successful garden. Test the pH of your soil and add compost or other amendments as needed to improve the soil structure and fertility.

In the city and urban areas, there is limited area to create a garden. But this will not be a hindrance in creating one. If you don't have space for a traditional garden, consider using a plastic container or a wooden box. But see to it that they are large enough and have good drainage.

5. Plant at the right time

Each plant has its own season that is why it is crucial to pay attention to the frost dates in your area and plant your seeds or seedlings at the appropriate time. Planting off-season might affect the blooming and bearing of fruit making harvesting time longer.

6. Water regularly

Do research when it comes to watering plants. Some plants do not necessarily to water daily because it can cause more harm than good.  Most plants need about an inch of water per week.

7. Fertilize as needed

There are different types of fertilizer that you can place in your plant. You can go with Organic or Chemical fertilizer depending on your preference. Fertilizer gives a boost of nutrients but makes sure to use a balanced fertilizer according to the instructions on the package to give your plants the nutrients they need to thrive.

8. Control pests and diseases

Keep an eye out for pests and diseases and take action as needed to control them. This might include using insecticides or fungicides or simply removing infected plants. There are DIY pesticides but pay more attention to chemical ones because they can be harmful to the environment.
